LEISA WAY - Sweet Dreams: A Tribute to Patsy Cline

Leisa Way, a native of Sudbury, started singing at events when she was 9 years old, and at age 12 sang for Queen Elizabeth. Her studies took her to the University of Toronto where she studied opera, and the Banff School of Fine Arts where she caught her bug for musical theatre.

Leisa took her first professional role in 1981, when she played Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, and she has performed in over 100 professional productions since then, both plays and musicals. In Canada, she is perhaps best known for her starring role as Anne in Anne of Green Gables, a role she played for six years at the Charlottetown Festival, including six tours to Japan and Canadian and U.S.A. tours and over 1,000 performances.

Her 25-year career in theatre has taken her to countries and theatres all over the world, starring in such roles as “Peter Pan” as well as playing “Wendy” to Olympic Medalist Cathy Rigby's Peter Pan (U.S.A. Tour), Polly in Crazy For You and numerous others.

Leisa is a great fan of Canadian playwright Norm Foster and has been privileged to star in a few of his plays, including The Long Weekend (in Bermuda and Canada), The Melville Boys, The Love List, and Race Day.

Leisa began another exciting chapter of her career, when she conceived, Sweet Dreams: A Tribute to Patsy Cline, which she began touring in the fall of 2007. This spectacular tribute concert is a result of Leisa's passion for the music of Patsy Cline and gives the audience a fabulous evening of entertainment.

The Classic Theatre is proud to present this wonderful show for your entertainment!

The Little Fiddler Gabrielle Smith

GABRIELLE SMITH

My name is Gabrielle Smith and I was born on June 10, 2000. When I was 10 weeks old, it was discovered I had a disease called Biliary Atresia and I almost died. Luckily my parents and my doctors and all the wonderful folks at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto figured out what was wrong and I had operations that saved my life.

I started playing the violin when I was five years old with instruction from my wonderful teacher, Ruth Kaufmann. Three years later, my mentor, Yvon Caza discovered that I had what he calls “a gift” for playing the fiddle.

I have been playing the fiddle ever since and love performing in front of audiences.

I live on a farm in Northern Ontario, Canada with my Mommy and Daddy and all sorts of pets. We have two dogs, three horses and five cats (my father puts up with the cats) and a lot of gold fish.

I love riding, barrel racing, figure skating, skiing, snow shoeing, canoeing and, of course, fiddling.

When I grow up, I want to be a fashion designer but I will always want to play the fiddle and perform and make people happy.

I love performing in front of audiences
