If you are reading this, you are most likely exploring our wonderful website and are wondering just what does the Classic Theatre in Cobalt have lined up for 2011-2012. This is our 17th season of presenting outstanding LIVE professional entertainers to the South Temiskaming region. It was once the vision of a small group of ambitious dreamers to create this beautiful, first-class venue for the people of the north. Today, we live the reality of having had sixteen years of great entertainment; including music, live theatre, children’s programs, and local charity events like Quality Time and CatScan Christmas. Performers love playing the Classic because we northerners are such warm and appreciative audiences. And you, our patrons, tell us regularly how much you value your experiences at “this gem of a theatre.” The Board of Directors couldn’t agree more!
Today, the theatre is operated and managed by a hard-working, elected volunteer Board of Directors, assisted by many other types of volunteers. Your ticket is taken by a volunteer, your program is offered by another, your intermission snacks served by still others. From contracting our wonderful lineup of artists, to keeping the books, to programming our ticket system, the Classic team relies on community volunteerism. The Classic Theatre is not just a place, it is a very large, and complex non-profit organization. And just a hint: the Classic is always ready to welcome new members to the family.
Of course, it also takes money to keep a theatre alive, and the Board of Directors wishes to gratefully thank our loyal sponsors and partners who have continued to work with us over the years. You will see their names displayed throughout this program. Please recognize and appreciate the huge contribution our 2011-2012 partners make to the quality of arts presentation in Temiskaming. Without them, the lights could not stay on.
The Classic has a fabulously talented group of artists to present to you this season. We hope you will enjoy the variety, experience something new perhaps, and keep the dream of the performing arts at the Classic alive!
And now, the Classic Theatre is proud to present...
