Cobalt, ON- January 23, 2011- The Classic Theatre is proud to present Jory Nash. The show takes place at the Classic Theatre on February 12, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. Jory Nash is a past recipient of the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals’ 'Songs From The Heart' songwriting award. His songs have been included on numerous compilation CDs and Jory has recorded 6 solo CDs.

If you are looking for something to warm you up this winter, come to the Classic Theatre for a taste of Jory's folk, jazz, pop, country, soul and blues soup. Jory's warm singing voice and commanding stage presence will urge you to listen. His creative and cozy storytelling will keep you so focussed, you'll forget about the cold.

Charming his audiences, Jory has sold 12,000 of his CDs from the stage. He has been very active on the Ontario folk festival circuit. Jory has played at Hillside, Summerfolk, Home County Folk Festival, Stewart Park, Shelter Valley Folk Festival, Minesing Unplugged, Toronto City Roots, Winterfolk, Eaglewood, Live From The Rock and many others. Jory’s music has been played on over 200 music programs/stations around the world, including BBC, NPR, CBC and XM Satellite Radio.

Jory is an independent singer-songwriter from Toronto who has been lucky enough to play music across North America several times. He has a large loyal fan base that comes from his ability to play guitar, banjo and piano equally well. Jory has played for fans at folk festivals, clubs, concert series and house concerts. Jory Nash last played at the Classic Theatre to an enthusiastic audience in March 2005.

His latest CD, New Blue Day, was released in 2009 and features 12 original tracks. The disc received positive reviews from critics. New Blue Day won Penguin Eggs magazine's critics poll for Album of the Year and a Best Production nomination from the Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Jory produces a yearly tribute concert to legendary Canadian songwriter, Gordon Lightfoot. The show, co-founded by songwriter Aengus Finnan, is called “The Way We Feel”. Jory is a lifelong Toronto Maple Leaf's fan. He also has a hat collection that numbers about two hundred and twenty- five.

As part of its community outreach, the Classic Theatre has arranged with Jory Nash to do a program in three area schools on February 11, the day before his performance at the Classic Theatre. The Theatre's partner for this venture is District School Board Ontario North East (DSBONE). Jory will visit three schools: Cobalt Public, New Liskeard Public and Temiskaming District Secondary. The Classic Theatre would like to thank DSBONE for their support in bringing arts programming to area students.

The Classic Theatre is an intimate 250-seat auditorium built in 1926. Situated in Ontario's Most Historic Town, the Classic Theatre is the only remaining theatre from Cobalt's silver boom of the early 1900's. The Classic Theatre is a registered charity presenting a dazzling entertainment line up each year including theatre, music, comedy, dance and variety shows.
